Meadows Assisted Living Inc.

They are short staffed, like every place is right now. It would be nice if they had outings for residents and more activities. I would like to see a monthly activity and menue calendar. They serve soup a lot. Mushy veggies and very dry meat. They do not serve special holiday meals, like turkey on Thanksgiving or special Christmas meal for the ones that do not go anywhere on holidays. The residents are like family to each other and have developed great relationships.

You need to know when you're going to die, otherwise they're going to charge you for the next whole month. That's the only issue I have with them. Otherwise it was a pretty good place.

Can't complain about too much. The staff tries really hard and they're usually understaffed on holidays and weekends but who isn't these days. They didn't seem to clean the room very much. Still the staff were very nice and personable they always were very prompt to respond to a call. Usually less than 5 minutes. meals were well prepared. Very reasonably priced.

Sun Valley looked to be kept clean. The people I talked to seemed to care about their residents. They knew about who was where, and what was going on. They ended up not being the place for us for a couple of reasons. They didn't have availability at the time we were looking. And ultimately it seemed like they did not have as much staff and therefore additional features. We were looking for a larger community with more planned activities and community interaction.

There are still in the process of transitioning over to new management and hiring no more people. They have hired on a new activities director and are working on improving their accessibilities for the residents an visiting families and friends - they used to have a system where you had to ring a doorbell and wait for someone to come let you in - now family and friends have a code to get into the building which makes things much easier. Anytime we have questions or concerns they are very responsive and we can see all the improvements they are making. We know they are trying very hard.

We really liked The Meadows. It is a family owned facility and they claim that all of the staff are hired by them so they have no contractors. The price structure was a little different, they give you a flat rate but then they have to evaluate your loved one and tailor a care plan, so the price is not up front. The staff all seemed very professional. The rooms were a good size, but too small for all of the things that mom would have to have in there. The pharmacy that Meadows works with is a lot more flexible and they allow you to use your regular pharmacy plans if it is cheaper.

The staff keeps the facility very clean. It often appeared that their priorities were cleaning and cooking vs caring for the residents. Unfortunately, the staff often worked solo during the core hours of 730 am - 630 pm. Ideally there should be 2 staff members during these hours so all work could get done. Additionally, there was a very loose shower schedule that wasn’t often followed. If there were 2 staff members during core hours, the shower schedule could easily be followed and residents wouldn’t have to wait and anticipate a shower time. The drug dispersion was also an anxious time of the day for my resident. My resident would take her drugs over a 2 hour period vs all at once, while being watched by staff. Overall, nice facility but needs more staff during core hours so that focus is on resident care.

Some staff were wonderful others couldn't be bothered. We were there daily... Twice her bed was wet and they made it. Lost a lot of her clothes. The meals were good and I would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had and it is better than most places.

My loved one was previously a resident at Meadows Assisted Living and Care Campus and the experience was okay. Though, I'm not sure if I would recommend this facility to others.

I wish I had good things to say about this but I do not. I have my mother who needs care but after talking with multiple staff who are extremely friendly about the place it’s sad to say that they’re short staffed. Forget the 8:1 ratio by law. They have 2 in assisted living and 1 in the other side to take care of all those people. One nice older woman was telling me that sometimes they get so far behind that some residents don’t get showers or even changed. I was told the manager just sit in her office all day. Makes the care givers do everything. I looked into the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers and the state will indeed pay you [removed]/month to take care of your loved ones. That is equivalent to 17-18$ an hour. Which these women make 15 some not a raise in years. The owner doesn’t care about anything but the money. Doesn’t even have certified people for passing out medications. Hopeful no mistakes are made and someone dies prematurely
