I loved the care they gave my mom she liked the food and staff. She felt safe there and they were kind to her. They talked to her and engaged with her.

Review for Cedarhurst of Godfrey

My loved one liked the food. It was a pet friendly environment, which was important. I would recommend to other families. My loved one needed more services than they provided.

Good in somethings, bad in others

They are unable to keep kitchen staff, and it has been a turnover in staff. There was billing issues. They took a long time for food to be served. The RA;s are magnificent, and I have nothing but kind words to say. The physical therapists is awesome. The are all very nice and polite. The activities is good, and the director is awesome. The kitchen service should be better.

Quick Tour!!

I had recently take a tour of this community for my father and It felt very rushed. I had dropped by on a Saturday afternoon to see the place and honestly I was not that pleased with the experience. The guy seemed to be just feeling in so did not have many answers and it just didn't seem to be the same quality as other facilities I had looked at.

Things have changed.

My loved one has been here for over 18 months. A lot has changed at Autumn Leaves due to the house cleaning of management and staff over the least 6 - 7 months. The new staff is fine, no real complaints, but the homey feeling and family atmosphere is gone. The focus is on profit now, on bringing in more residents, or at least that is how it seems to family members that have been here a while. The extra bit of warmth and attention that initially drew us to Autumn Leaves is no longer there. Caregiver and nurse turnover is greater than it was even a year ago, and that is not beneficial to the residents. I don't know what is causing the turnover, but the connections my loved one made with the previous caregivers is long gone. If you are new to Autumn Leaves, you will probably think it is a fine place (and it is, compared to some of the other places out there), though rather pricey for what your loved one is receiving. For my family, genuine family atmosphere (the former director's own children would come in and spend time with the residents, too) that drew us to Autumn Leaves of Oswego initially, and for which I was willing to pay the extra money for, is no longer present. Do know, the price will go up at least 10% every year but your loved one will not see a benefit from the price increase. Profit is everything now. I do hope this changes, and loving care and genuine warmth returns, since that is what drew us here in the beginning. It is a fine place, but it could return to being a wonderful place again.

Not Enough Staff, Especially in the Evening

My mom was treated very well. The staff there is very attentive and friendly. The facility is new and is very nice because it has some nice amenities. However, it's on a very small parcel of land and there's really no room outdoors. They have 2 or 3 small couryards but they're not big enough for walking; they're fine for sitting. More importantly, they have a couple of residents that I think are placed inappropriately. There is one gentleman that constantly urinates all over the place and takes his clothes off mutilple times a day. He also goes around trying to get into all the rooms and being that it's a memory care place the residents can't always remember to lock their rooms. There is another gentleman that eats everything you put in the common refrigerator. I don't think they have enough staff. They have 2 people in the evenings for 12 fo 14 people. My mom is home now. We took her out of there because it's too expensive. Even if it weren't she probably wouldn't have stayed.

I really enjoyed the tour h...

I really enjoyed the tour here but the prices are to high and as much as I would like for G to go there, I simply cannot afford it. They have room for 45 and only 11 spots, if they brought their prices down they may find they can sell more rooms and get more residents because they have a very nice home

Tries but not there

I would say to make sure that what they say they are going to do that they really do it because that was the problem for us. There are activities but my loved one does not do these activities in the community. The staff are okay and there is a lot of turnover. The communication is very slow unless I am initiating the conversation instead of being proactive.

Promises made but not kept

My husband was there for 6 weeks and we had to move him. His basic needs were not met, even though they promised they would be. He has dementia and does not have the ability to take care of himself. For the 6 weeks, he wasn't shaved. His hands were dirty and he didn't even have a wash cloth in the bathroom. He had on women's shirts a couple of times. He has aggression issues and they didn't know how to handle it. He's been gone a month now and I still don't have a corrected invoice for two months ago.

Beware

It wasn't the worst place on the face of the earth, but I wouldn't go back. Cleanliness was terrible. I was not impressed with the staff. The food was good, and her little apartment was cute and had some nice features. So if you're there and can take care of yourself, you'd do fine. But if you need more care, then they fail miserably. My loved one needed more care. She wouldn't take her medication and needed it administered to her. She ended up in the hospital after not taking her medication 9 out of 10 days, which they never contacted me about. She presented at the hospital filthy, and they said she refused baths. I feel like they didn't care about taking care of her at all. I was finally able to go in when she was released from the hospital, and I saw they would leave her food just sitting there uneaten. They didn't care whether she was eating or not. They tried to prevent me from moving her to a different facility, and I had to get a lawyer involved. They didn't seem to care about anything until I gave them our 30-days notice.

My review of Cedarhurst of Granite City

The place is really nice and when there was snow they cleared it up very quickly. However, the value is a lot to high and when it comes to the meals you fill out a menu stating what you like and do not like, and more than sometimes they mess up the order. Sometimes when i request a phone call from maintenance or the head lady in charge i very rarely get a call back.

Poor management

My family members lived here for a short time. Lack of staff Used agency that did not care. Plus lack of management. Had spoken to upper management and never did anything. The director is useless and labeled my family member as psychotic!!!! This company only cares about money! My family members passed away and no condolences! If you value care for your loved one do not move them here. This place does not respect their staff or the family of the people that live here.

dissatisfied

Since we moved in 5 months ago the facility has declined greatly. Several of the administrative staff have been replaced . The maintenance and housekeeper have both quit, therefore the facility has become unclean and the rooms are not being cleaned properly. We were promised a shower three times a week but if we are lucky once a week -if we complain. The caregivers are not answering the call lights in a prompt manner in the night. I don't think there is a good training for them to attend to residents with dementia. The caregivers are expected to do more than caring for the residents, like house keeping, feeding, cleaning rooms laundry, etc. The meals are always late and the times have been adjusted to accommodate the schedules of the caregivers.

Disappointing change

When our family member first became a member of the Autumn Leaves community in July of 2013 we absolutely loved it. As soon as we walked through the door to visit we were welcomed by the staff that knew us by name and shared information and stories about our family member. The staff went out of their way to let us know how she was doing at all times. We felt comfortable and like a member of the community. We loved all the staff, unfortunately that is no longer the case. I would no longer recommend this facility. The level of care has changed dramatically. We were rarely given updates on my family member's condition and even though we visited frequently many of the staff had no idea who we were including the director for several months. There is a definite change in the culture. The one bright spot is the activities director.

Better care

The care at this community was not what we wanted. The staff wanted my father's door closed at all times. The staff constantly called my sister for no reasons. The staff called an ambulance that was not needed. We were informed that this community calls the paramedics when they dont want to help residents. This community is not recommended due to the care. My father is no longer there and doing well. Families should tour this community before they make a decision for the care of the family.
