Not impressed!

My first impression of Heritage of Dover was that the community did not feel like home. The staff were very kind and addressed all of my concerns. The community was clean throughout. The feel I got from the community just made me feel like I wouldn't want to live there. This was not the place for my wife.

My Mother was a resident at The Village. They could not keep staff. They went through management like water. There were always mistakes on my Mom's bill. We were told one price for the room then 5 months later we were called by the marketer and told that the room rate is going to be raised and they need another contract signed. The food was more like fast food. We moved Mom out. We did not trust her care to them because of the high turn around of staff and management.

Very disappointed

My mother was at Foxbridge for not quite a year. The first couple of months all appeared good. Things started going downhill very quickly. Mom was misplaced in the incorrect level of care. She got around and could do for herself pretty much. The building she was placed in had residents that were mostly in wheel chairs and did almost nothing besides sit in the community room and sleep. The residents had daily menus and there was always an alternate choice, however they rarely received all items listed on the menu and if they did not eat what was placed in front of them they were NOT given the alternate meal nor were they even asked, they simply left the table hungry. Mom had problems getting her mail. I ordered her subscriptions to Southern Living and Good Housekeeping but she rarely received them. I would normally have to literally check with all attendants only to be told " no she didn't have mail" But when I insisted they look well a few times it was stuck in a drawer at the mail desk in her building. Most of these magazines now come wrapped in a plastic cover, yet hers never had one ... ( I got the same magazines at my home and mine arrived on time and wrapped each month) her should have also. It's a shame paying good money ( on the high end at that) and you entrust your loved one to their care, wanting the best for , in my case my mom, only to find what they provided was much less than or non-existence services that Foxbridge agreed and promised to deliver as part of her care program. I paid them a hefty sum each month to provide the high level of care for mom that I was promised she would receive in exchange for these funds. Sadly that is not what we received at Foxbridge. When families entrust our loved ones to facilities such as this, that "specialize" in the care needed by the elderly we do so because they promise to look after and care for them as they would a member of their own family. It's heartbreaking to find only empty promises and you beat yourself up because you placed your love one into that environment. I would only give this place a 2 star rating and that is only because the grounds offer a peaceful setting with a pond and greenery. A relaxing setting and the staff for the mist part are friendly.

Mixing Independent living with Dementia.....

I have now lived here long enough to realize that it is not only important to have a friendly and expert staff, but also to keep your eyes open for other signs: who are the other people living in the same place, and who will be your neighbor. This seems to be a place were it matters only if the Co. gets paid, regardless of if needs get served. There are people here "dumped" by neglectful relatives (children and grandchildren included) who are happy with the price and figure that the old folks can just live somewhere independently, regardless of if they are capable to still conduct an independent lifestyle. The rest of us just have to put up with it! That means that if our wheelchair bound neighbor has a diaper that is changed only twice a day (morning and evening) we better hope she does not have a bad case of diarrhea....and if there is nobody that will cut the food or feed a person that cannot do this hopefully there is a compassionate neighbor that will double as a care-giver. I feel that the management should definitely not accept people that have handicaps, physical and mental alike, that should compel them to live in an extended care facility. But what about thee $$$$ ? Check it out.....I sure would not recommend anyone to join me in my disappointment.

The scenery is beautiful. The place is clean enough. The carpets should be replaced and the outside needs painting. The Parking could use paving and or sealing. The food is sub par. It is all over processed and not home made. Desserts are horrible and there rarely is fresh fruit. They go through staff like water. They keep going through management. The administration is lacking. The Director of Nursing is not even a nurse. The Marketer is clueless and very short when you ask her questions. The office manger can be nice. However, she becomes easily agitated and makes you feel that you are intruding. My Father and I decided to move him to another PCH. If they can not keep staff how would my father be taken care of. It really was a nice homey friendly place. However, it has gone down hill the past few months.

Be Careful Before Choosing Maple Court

They can make photos that make it look like a great place but the truth is that Maple Court is understaffed which makes the quality of care terrible. It is basically a nursing home without certified caregivers. The nursing staff is good but overworked. Residents are left wet and soiled for extended periods of time. Very few activities are offered and residents are usually just parked in front of the television and left unattended until bedtime. When you go to check out Maple Court ask other family members about their experience. Don't trust staff to tell you the truth. You can do much better for the money.

My loved one is in memory care. 3 rooms are infested with bedbugs. Don’t put your loved one in here. One nurse for 3 halls. Activities is a joke. Food is horrible. She was served plain spaghetti noodles, mushy spinach and cornbread for dinner. When I asked why they said they were out of money.

The Willows

The only good thing about The Willows was the move-in. Notes in the bathroom, told people not to throw diapers in the basket, but left no instructions where to put diapers. The sales staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The administrator never met the resident, even after being encouraged to do so by me who was the residence advocate. the quality of care was abominable. The head of nursing made multiple promises and did not keep them. The meds were screwed up continually. They committed to helping with showers and never kept the scheduled time. The activities existed on a board, but basically never really happened. The person that was responsible for doing the activities was also the driver that was taking people to doctors and appointments and the weekly runs to Walmart and restaurants. Movies were listed and never shown. Crafts were listed and no one was ever in the room. With regard to friendliness, the residence were basically very unhappy. Many of them just sat in the public spaces, falling asleep. A small number would speak to you when you walk by, but mostly they behaved in a catatonic way we should've been aware that something was wrong when we saw that. The food was acceptable, but certainly could've been better. The dining room had one excellent waitress who really seemed to care about the resident needed some services and during the initial visit, they were determined. When asked what we were going to be paying for them it was totally unclear. They said they were going to provide three services that would help the resident be eligible for her long-term care. And they did provide on occasion some of those services. The plan of care was written, which included them, but when the billing came, it didn't charge for them. The managing nurse seem to think that the resident did not need long-term care and so she just didn't provide it. But when the long-term care nurse came to assess the resident, she met all the markers for long-term care. I contacted the administrator to please Rebill for services rendered, she pushed me off to the accounting department who made excuses that he was new and he didn't know anything about it. I asked to have a meeting with the administrator and she scheduled the meeting, but never showed up. That was the second time that it happened to me when I had a meeting scheduled with her. The Willows would not be a place that I would send even my hated mother-in-law if I had such a thing. They were incompetent beyond belief With all sorts of promises and no delivery. I even contacted their national headquarters who acted as if they cared, but really put it back in the administrators lap. They just didn't give a damn. in the meantime the patient had to pay out of her own pocket for what could have been paid by her long-term care policy who were extremely cooperative and would've done anything to help Make that happen.

[name removed] at the adiministartion of the Gardens of Liberty Village refused to provide doucments via email and would only provide some paperword in an in person meeting from an assessment that was supposedly performed by an employee that started in at the Gardens in [date removed] and was gone by out meeting in [date removed] around the same time that the hourly checks were being questioned. When asked for detailed documentation, the administrator, [name removed], refused documentation and only offered a verbal meeting during her hours Monday through Friday 8 Am - 5 PM ET.

Just the way the facility is designed is odd. Individual buildings for each group of people, with no centralized dining room that I saw. Food brought in from another building. My dad said there was limited staff in his area (Magnolia). I was not impressed AT ALL with the facility. The facility itself is located in a weird place, kind of remote even though it's in Memphis. What I was being charged for and what his room looked like was unacceptable. The caretakers and nurses were nice and friendly and I do believe helpful for the most part, and since I live out of state and not near Memphis, I received a lot of help from the marketing director with getting my dad over there from a skilled nursing facility. She was invaluable. But upper administration, not at all. Specifically the executive director and the business manager. Horrible communication and resolution of billing and other issues.

Terribly Mismanaged

The new management of this building is simply terrible. They made the former secretary into a General Manager and she has no business running this building. She is never to be found and when.you can speak with her, she is nasty and dismissive. The only saving grace is [name removed] who is always kind and helpful. The food was showing improvement and now that has gone down the drain. It's all frozen food and we get it served either burnt to a crisp or raw. They can't even make eggs in the morning correctly. They are also very slow to get any issues resolved. My sink drain has been broken for 2 weeks and nobody has addressed this situation yet. Very unhappy. The overall morale of residents is declining because of everyone's dissatisfaction.

The staff are inexperienced, lack common sense and put residents in harms way with both of these failings.

Terrible tour and building

I went to tour this place last week and the lady who gave me the tour was clueless. She didn't have answers to any of my questions. The building also had a strong urine smell. The care staff seemed to be more concerned with what was on their cells phones than the people that lived there. I toured 2 other places and they were much better overall.

Dirty sheets and zero activities

My mother in law has been here for 2.5 years and it was wonderful until a few months ago. The new management has let the place go and the residents are paying for it. My mother in law's sheets were bloody from a wound that came from a fall. A fall can happen anywhere, but the same sheets were still on the bed five days later. I brought this to the attention of the wellness director who said it would be taken care of right away. I went back the next day and the same sheets were still on the bed. After visiting for a couple of weeks at different times of the day, I realized that there were no activities at all. I was then told that there wasn't an activities director. Those poor people are just left alone. Needless to say, we put in our notice and are moving her next week. It's a shame how this place is being run. I wish I could attach pictures to this review.

Poorly Managed, Residents suffer

The new General Manager is not qualified and is never around. Just when they were making strides with an Activities Director, who was fantastic, they end up getting rid of her for a mistake. Understaffing, putting pressure on the staff probably contributed to it, but who knows.

We moved Mom out of the Willows. It was terrible. It went downhill very quickly. Even the staff has left. Food was terrible care was terrible. Staff was on their phone all the time in the corner. It was a lot of nepotism. Their friends were bringing friends and it was kind of a big party atmosphere for the staff, mom ended up in the hospital with sepsis. They didn't take good care of her.

NOT THE SAME ANY MORE

At this time, I cannot recommend this facility any longer. High staff turnover, communication is not good. Residents complain about food. Expressed concerns are explained away with excuses or ignored. No improvement in sight. Not worth the price.
