This Board & Care is not what they post!! If I could I would give a 0 zero rating. For what you pay: no air condition even tho they have the unit on the side of the home Saying it doesn't work... savings for the owners. Food: 0 zero rating lunch was usually 1 boiled chicken leg, frozen vegetables, stack of white steam RICE, always always Sunny Delight that is sugar water and I am a diabetic! They could care less just to save dollars!! Both restroom not adequate with handrails not to mention no toilet paper nor paper towels let alone hand soap so unsanitary for patients or visitors!! Visiting hours till 6pm are you kidding.. most people to see their loved ones coming from work & across town would have to have short short visits.. that needs to change!! Not flexible hours either. Big NO Admitting your love one here you'll be sorry.[

I went to tour this property today to place my mother. Upon arriving I was informed this was a men’s home, however ,they had a private room for my mother. As soon as I walked in I was hit in the face with an overwhelming smell of air freshener, The House was dirty and shabby.I would never let my pet stay here let alone my mother! I honestly do not know how people who run these board and care homes obtain licenses.

My Dad moved into Hickory in April after he fell and broke his hip and the staff is excellent but the admin and owner are horrible. I was never able to meet or speak with the owner and the manager didn't listen to a word I spoke, she is very very rude. I was offered for my Dad to move into a shared room, well once he was in there the other person in his room did nothing but complain about my Dad (who had dementia) and I was told that my Dad would either need to move to a private room or to another facility that this place owned which was about another 20 to 30 minutes away from me. I told them that the roommate was the problem and that why did my Dad have to move. They tired to say that my Dad would be better off in a private room. I went ahead a moved him and ended up having to pay more money. The guy in the shared room complained about everyone but was not asked to leave until he stopped paying rent. My Dad passed away in his private room in July and I didn't get one penny back. The owner and manager are very heartless. I would not recommend this place.
