My mother has lived at Edgemere for 10 years. Moving there was by far the best decision of her life. It was so convenient for her to be able to spend some time in the Plaza after she was in the hospital. She had a beautiful room at the Plaza and she was so comfortable because she knew the staff at the Plaza, and they knew her. She didn't have to go to an unfamiliar place. Edgemere's level of customer service can't be beat. The staff is happy, tenured, well trained, and well managed so in turn the residents are spoiled by their love and attention.

It seems more like a dorm style community, in which they have a common area to eat. It's a good atomosphere for my loved one. They have been accomodating for my loved ones situation. They are not a highly skilled nursing facility, although they do have on-site nurses.

The biggest reason we chose The Heritage was the availability to move our loved one in right away and the cost is better compared to others in the area. They are building a brand new building that they will move the residents to here shortly. Our loved one will have a bigger space, bigger bathroom and more ADA compliance rooms. It is in good proximity to our family and we would recommend this community to others based on our experience. Our loved one eats three meals a day and has yet to complain, and from what our loved one has participated in and by looking at their activities calendar, everything looks great.

The staff are wonderful. They are very competent, friendly, patient, and dedicated. The current facilities are extremely outdated, but the new building will be done in a few months, so that's less of a concern. When looking for a place for your loved one, it really just depends on the needs and level of help and engagement your loved one requires. My loved one started out in assisted living and moved to memory care recently, so I don't have enough experience to say about the memory care side yet. But we've had a great experience in assisted living. Once they move into their new facilities, it's definitely a place to check out for sure. And given the short time frame for that, I would look at them now. The rooms, especially the bathrooms are extremely outdated and feel a bit institutional. And the current environment might not be as warm as other places might be. Obviously since they're about to open a new facility, they're not spending as much on the old facility. But that's a short-term problem that will be resolved with the opening of the new building this summer. Really my only other criticism is the food is kind of a mixed bag. Some things are wonderful, and some things are terrible. On the lower end of the spectrum, the dinners tend to be things like baloney sandwiches, but on the higher end of the spectrum, breakfast is really great.

The decision to relocate to The Heritage 11 years ago was a wise move. The apartment is roomy, the food is very good, the activities are varied, the staff is caring and the residents are friendly. Who could ask for anything more?

Overall our experience with Edgemere was a good one. The facility is on the older side, but for the most part they keep things looking clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and they did a good job taking care of my loved one while she was here, although we eventually ended up needing to move her when her care needs increased. The biggest issue I had was I didn't like that the independent and assisted living sections had different dining rooms, as it meant my loved one couldn't eat with some friends she had on the independent side.

I toured this community and it was nice. It's a brand new facility, clean, friendly. However, it's multi levels and not a good fit for my loved one.

We picked this community, because it was a brand new, beautiful facility. Unfortunately they lacked staff.

The community was still under construction, and they had pandemic protocols that would shut the whole community down.

We experienced poor communication with the staff at Edgemere. This is the main reason we are not currently happy with this community. The food is not the best quality and dad says it is like a cafeteria. The staff are friendly and the community is kept clean. They offer a few activities but I think they could add some more.

[Date Removed] The food is tasty. There's little communication between shifts. People aren't trained. My husband was placed in the dementia unit because of a good recommendation of a knowledgeable worker in the elder field. He is unable to go to the bathroom by himself. I told everyone there to please keep a check on him and I put up signs. He complained for 2 days that he hurt because no one took him to the bathroom. On the 3rd day he had an accident (which humiliated him). After that they were more careful. Socks weren't changed for 8 days. When I went to change the socks I discovered he must have been sitting for 8 hours with the bottoms of his feet all wet. I saw where there were times the disabled or blind people didn't have aids to assist them in eating. I would not recommend this dementia unit.

My mother lived here for a year. It was the wrong placement. She had significant cognitive issues that we didn't understand, but she was neglected here. The place is beautiful, but when we moved her to a different facility, we found out that she had many bedsores, which we were never told about, which developed because of neglect. If we had known earlier, we could have done things differently. As it was, she suffered in her last year of life from these bedsores. I would not recommend Edgemere to anyone.

I would never place a loved one there if I had to do it over again. After countless discussions with mgmt they still don’t care. We also were told multiple things at the time of our tour that were later told we’re not true. I’ve spoken with mgmt and then the executive director over everyone and she did not seem to care what we were told and only said she was sorry that the information given was incorrect and that they would not be honoring what we were told.

We do not think highly of The Heritage of Green Hills, if your loved one can take care of themselves this might be a fine place for them. The building is very nice, but they do not have enough help, the day to day works are very nice but they will be burnt our very quickly. They lost our loved ones laundry even though it had their names tagged in it. Our loved one was a fall risk and they did not do things to prevent falls, they were not very accommodating or willing to work with us when we gave suggestions. They said we could use whatever we wanted when it came to the medicine but they made us use their pharmacy.

When a resident passes, the Heritage requires what is called a short certificate before estate executors can remove items. Proof of being an executor and will is not enough. Obtaining such a certificate usually involves two of more days. In our case, although we were assured that none of the Heritage staff would enter our mom’s unit, they did anyway. When we finally gained access, it was not only obvious that staff or others had been in the unit, but also valuable items were missing. My suggestion is that if your loved one passes at the Heritage, go out and buy tamper proof tape and seal the door until they grant you access.
