That was more of a building atmosphere than a home like atmosphere. It was a more traditional, bigger assisted living. They said there would be no adjustment in rate which was good. It was nice but now I'm realizing that she was considering my mom for the assisted living when really she would need the memory care. She didn't show us the memory care unit so I don't think it would have worked out anyway.

My father has dementia however not enough to be in the memory care unit. Still knows family, can feed himself and go to bathroom. Other discussion he can’t make. I change batteries in his hearing aid, clean glasses, cut nails etc. tried numerous times to have their staff do to no avail. Personal care is very lacking. Even showering which I have no check list when he received one. Wash seems to get done once a week. Like everywhere they maybe understaffed. One other thing. The executive director is new about six months on the job. I gave her plenty of time to get adjusted. Call twice left voicemails on various issues never to have my calls returned

The nurses were nice although staff to patient ratio was low. Too many patients with too few nurses. Plus, the place is old and needed some updates. I guess it's the cheapest place for a reason.

The main complaint I hear from my dad is about the food not being great quality.

I toured at Abode Care of Monroeville. My tour guide broke away from me to handle something. She left me in the conference room for an extended amount of time. I understand emergencies happen but I felt like she could have sent someone in to give me reassurance that she was coming back.

The meals continue to be served cold. Silverware is often missing. Servers are not fully trained and do not follow rules, except a few. Tech-meds need to be aware of the instructions written on containers instead of just relying on their cart's computers. The executive director does an excellent job, but not some of the supervisors.

A&B is a very serviceable family-run community. Competitively priced all inclusive. [Name removed] was charming and a passionate advocate. The tour revealed a very warm and welcoming staff and residents. The facility itself could do with a bit more renovation and upgrades. This fact has me putting Above&Beyond in teh Pass column.

We were not impressed with my tour of this community. From what I saw the community was not very clean. They could do a better job with the cleanliness around the facility. We felt this was more like a family ran business, and the staff wore many different hats. Everyone was friendly to my family, and I. This was not the right fit for my parents, and their needs.

When I toured here, I was running a little late but they were very nice about it. I don't care for the neighborhood environment that the facility is in. There is a factory/office across the street with a parking lot full of vans/trucks. The facility itself is beautiful from the outside. The common area has a beautiful view of the courtyard. There are birds, bird feeders. fountains, ponds, places to sit in the shade and in the sun. It was a lovely setting. I was annoyed by the gentleman that interviewed me, wanting to know the other places I had toured, and calling my husband Dad. He never asked me a thing about what my loved one was like or his hobbies or anything, but kept trying to tell me how much they cared. It felt really sleazy, and like it was about the money. The activity room had a window and I peeked in but he never offered to go into the room. I asked if I could see a private room and a shared room, and he reluctantly showed them to me - "I guess I could show you a room if you really want to see one". He did not show me Memory Care rooms. They were assisted living rooms but he said they are exactly like the Memory Care rooms. I liked the fact that we could have a sleigh bed and matching side table and not a hospital bed, "anything you want to make it like home", and the views from the windows were beautiful, they were on the woods side of the building. I would have liked to have seen biographies outside the residents' rooms telling a little about them. So overall, it was not a good experience. The place has some lovely aspects - dining rooms are attractive and courtyard is nice, but I didn't get any feel for what the place was really all about. Perhaps a tour with a different person would have made a difference. I did run into a woman outside who mentioned that her loved one and four of his friends all lived here and were very happy.

My parents were there over a period of eight months. They were very short-staffed in the beginning which we understood. It made things very difficult in the beginning when it came to communication about appointments and things regarding the facility. There was no one ever at the front desk. These were all things that we were willing to work with. Unfortunately it got way worse. My mother was sent out with her meds, which included an insulin pen with memory issue/dementia. We had to argue with her in order to get the medicine back during the outing. my father fell and was on the floor for 45 minutes . The staff during the night shift wanted to cover the situation and never told management. He rang every alarm that they had t. They were not working. No one was on the floor: The facility Director and nursing Director tried to justify the situation and reason the disorganization and unsafe environment, and we were met with passive aggressive, texting. It didn’t feel safe after.

The floor staff was very kind. The management was extremely poor and unprofessional. They tried to cover up safety issues we had with our parents. The overall Management was very unorganized and it reflected very strongly in the day to day experience. It was no longer safe for my parents. My father was fell and was on the floor for 45 minutes. They tried to cover it up. He was able to tell us what happened and this was one of many issues. My mother was sent out with her own meds ( insulin pen ) with dementia. We had to move my parents out of the facility. I would not recommend this place at all.

The executive director was never there any time we came in to see our loved ones, we could NEVER find any staff to help us with what we needed, the only person who helped us multiple times was a young cook there who seemed to be doing everything he could. We never got answers until days later about our parents situation we weren't aware of..along with co-vid being a huge threat to the elderly. No one were wearing masks. I would not recommend this horrendous place unless you want minimal updates about your loved ones,And it seems you can never find the actual owners numbers anywhere so we could call and complain about the lack of compassion the aides there showed seemed like they were just there for a check.

My mother never received a call bell for 4 days. The administrator was in charge of the residents receiving a call bell. My mother was admitted with Hospice in which they do accept hospice patients. Per the administrator she was not allowed to use a bedpan or bedside commode and had it removed from her room. This facility does not accommodate hospice patients. I found a bloody peri pad in the medicine cabinet when I was inspecting her room when she first moved in. It was removed by the aide after I showed him. I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone.

Understaffed, uncaring invisible administrators, horrible food, unsafe medication administration at improper times, smelly hallways, call bells are never answered...EVER. Laundry done sporadically. Personal cleaning supplies disappeared twice with no reimbursement. The staff caring for residents are lovely but overworked and unsupervised. If your loved one is here, please visit often.

I had a very bad experience with them. They were very disorganized and understaffed. I Got Dad moved in and they did absolutely nothing that they had said they were going to do. I had two meetings with them after he moved in to address these issues, and again nothing was done. After one month of him living there, I moved him out and over to [facility name removed].
