We Definitely Chose the Right Place

They took outstanding care of our friend. The caregivers were very compassionate. The general feel of the facility made us comment among ourselves every visit that we definitely choose the right place. Laura and Ginger were very attentive to our needs and answering any questions along the way. The hospice nurse and assistant were excellent.

Judy’s review - Couldn’t be Happier!

The process has been great. I looked at a lot of places & ruled them out for various reasons And I knew this was the only place I wanted to move into. It took a long time, but it was worth it once I felt ready. The community residents are friendly and very happy here. Everyone has been very helpful. It’s so easy to meet people now that I have moved in! The landscaping is beautiful! I see deer from my new apartment! This was a perfect fit for me. Couldn’t be Happier!

A pleasant way to move forward in life

I have had an excellent experience, even considering Covid. The concierge and all of the employees are very attentive to the needs of the people living here, and it's a very pleasant environment, both the apartments as well as the external features and the buildings themselves. I moved in during Covid, and everyone including the residents should be complimented for their compliance with masks and restrictions to keep everyone safe. It's been exceptional. They actually delivered the meals to each apartment during Covid. Meals are optional, and I haven't tried the food yet because I like to cook, but the other residents say it's good, and I've viewed the menu. It looks very good, and the dining area looks inviting - I think I would definitely partake in the summer months. They're just now opening up more activities. We have our own movie theater - an actual theater, not just a screening room with a bunch of chairs. It was just like being out at a movie theater - it was wonderful. Lately they had an activities committee that met with us at different tables to tell us what they'll be offering - and it's a lot as far as quantity and variety of interests. I like that on a monthly basis, your budget stays the same. It's nice not to have to worry about large fluctuations.

[Name removed]'s Journey

My husband and I toured 3 places and we loved this community best. We were depositors when my husband, [name removed] became very ill and passed within months. I was scared to go to Fairing Way without my husband of 40 years.. He was my best friend . ... i didn't know if I even wanted to leave our home and ALL of his memories... I almost backed off completed and stayed in our home.... but This is where [name removed] wanted us to live the rest of our days...Now that I look back... I think he knew I would be in good hands if something happened to one of us.. I'm happy I moved into Fairing Way. I can't begin to describe the dear friendships I've made and all the activities and events that keep me young and alive. I know [name removed] chose this place so I would never be left alone even long after God him home. At Fairing Way we are all a big family here, and I recommend this place to all who are planning on taking the big next step.

Fairing Way

The most affordable and beautiful place in the South Shore! I would highly recommend Fairing Way. They valued my mother’s needs, offer plenty of activities and well decorated common areas. We took a tour of a few apartments that were spacious, and new. Warm and inviting environment (neatly kept). Staff/concierge service are always friendly and helpful. They helped with the moving process. Mom always tells me how much she loves the residents and her overwhelming sense of security lets me know I made the right choice. .

They take care of everything for her

My aunts only been there two months now, the cleanliness is definitely a 5, the staff is extremely friendly, I haven't been to any events but I know that they do a lot with them. My sister has been there when my aunt has been doing some stuff, she's very happy there and she hasn't asked us to bring her back home. My partner works with the elderly all the time and as he puts it, she's now back in a spot where everyone is taking care of everything for here, so she should be happy. They do have osme nursing staff but it's not the same as a nursing home.

I spoke Exec.Dir. It has only people ...

I spoke Exec.Dir. It has only people w/dementia and Alzheimer's and thus has a better staff/resident ratio than usual. As needs of resident increase, cost does not. Same staffing on weekends as during week. 32 beds on 2 floors - more advanced people on second floor. laundry onsite; they have residents w/aides for meals only. Activities run 9:30-7:30pm w/ 2 recreation staff on ea. floor. music therapy, yoga (designed to match abilities on 1st or 2nd floor). Interns from MSW progr at BU, med stus. from BU. People stay thru end of life if medically possible (hospice). All programming geared to people w/all levels of dementia. Even if very little response residents find some activities stimulating. Most other places have a floor or a wing devoted to memory care but they will put early and late stage together. This place specializes. They were built (1950's), in late 1990's built 2 assisted living floors designed for people w/dementia. First of it's kind in the area devoted just to all levels of dementia. Units are a huge rectangle w/common areas in middle (can't get lost or stuck at end of hall). "Premier community for any kind of dementia".

8 years at DCNH

My mother was a resident at the Daggett Crandall Newcomb Home from December of 2010 until she passed away in February of 2019. It would be difficult for me to accurately describe the high level of care, attention, patience, and most importantly gentle affection with which the staff treated her during that time period. I could name names---but of course I would leave someone out. Nurses, CNAs, administration---all were available at any time to take care of her needs (and from my observations, the same treatment was afforded to every single resident in the 22 room facility). Not once in those 8+ years did I have to request a meeting to discuss issues with her care, and I had to do this regularly at two other facilities where she had short rehab stays over the years. One story I'll tell sums up, I think, the personal touch of the DCNH staff. The transition to living at DCNH was not easy for my mother on a lot of levels. My mother was a night owl and the usual lights out time at the residence was probably a good four hours before she usually went to bed. She was restless and unhappy----but one of the assistants would sit with her after all the other residents were in bed for the night. They would talk and look through catalogs, maybe work up a few orders for me to approve!!, and gradually my mother would call it a day earlier and earlier until her daily schedule was more in line with that of the facility. This is just one example of the kind of treatment she received. My family and I became a part of the DCNH family, and it was never so noticeable as in the last two years of failing health leading up to my mother's final moments . One of the greatest tributes to her was the silent yet emotional response of the nurses and staff when her body was taken from the building followed by the incredible show of employees both past and present at her services. In short, I have no qualms recommending DCNH as a residential care facilty for your loved one.

Rogerson HouseThe Perfect Place For My Mom

My mom spent her last three years of her life at Rogerson-entering when she was almot 99 years old until she recently passed away at 102. My mom's las t chapter of her life could not have been better; my husband and I interviewed and visited several facilities but none were like Rogerson House. It is truly unique; its homelike atmosphere and set up on the two residential floors, the staff trained to care for people with different levels of dementia and thus different needs;the variety of art, exercise and music programs all designed to keep the residents active, entertained and keep the minds active! We visited daily and were always encouraged to participate in the activities along with my mom and the other residents. And we often were there at mealtimes so we almost felt like we were still at home with my mom having a meal together. The nursing staff was very quick to call us if they had any concerns about my mom even if there was something very small they still always called to alert us. Whenever we had a concerns and reached out to the executive staff or nursing staff a meeting was quickly convened and solution found. There are so many social events there for the residents and their families to enjoy their times together. All kind of Holiday gatherings are held throughout the year. And the outdoors area in the back is wonderful place to spend the afternoon whether at the weekly Friday cookout or just strolling outside or sitting as we often did with my mom in the gazebo. Also my mom always wanted to look her best so the weekly visit with the hairdresser who had space in a mini salon on the Ground floor and the manicurist who also visited weekly were perfect for her. My mom over time referred to Rogerson as home and we definitely found the perfect place for her to spend the last chapter of her life

Overall very positive experience

Admission was a very easy and well guided process. A lot of attention to detail from everybody. Diet, interests, peculiarities. Highly professional staff from top to bottom. I like single rooms with shared bathroom. Well maintained garden/park, where weather permitted a lot of activities happen. Well organized and well maintained medicating system. Doctors and RN nurse visits with feedback for the family. I'm also renting the furniture, everything was done to help me and my loved one to adjust. it is easy to reach everybody from director to maintenance. Hope it will go on as well as it started. So far we reached a one month mark.
