Initially there was some confusion over mechanical soft diet order, and there are not as many options for special diets. Some of the activities are more childish than others. It is costly for the level of care given, but we are willing to pay more peace of mind that Moms getting quality care.

I was very impressed with the facility and staff. Very high level of personal care which was our primary concern. I only observed dinner which was spartan (soup and sandwich). Have no opinion on activities.

Small and cozy. My dad felt it was easy to navigate. I would recommend it.

Excellent experience. Staff is caring and competent. Home-like atmosphere with all levels of staff involved in creating a family atmosphere. Picked this community for the ability to have a high level of care in an assisted living environment. Will have my mother stay through end of life, which means the world to have her in as friendly and supportive environment and not have to move her to another facility at the end when she needs the comfort of familiar caregivers.

5 on everything for Columbia Cottage and A Place For Mom has gone above and beyond for me. The community is beautiful and all of the staff members that work there, are excellent! Based on the experience we have had so far, we would absolutely recommend this community to other families.!

Caring staff, willing to work with you on any special needs and well managed. I would recommend to others. We picked this community, because it was small enough to know every resident and 10 levels of care.

My mom just recently passed away and the care that was given to her at Columbia Cottage in Hershey was such a blessing. They didn’t just take care of her physical needs but they truly cared about her and that really came through the last weeks of life when she really needed them. They not only were they there for our mom they also tended to our needs too. They made sure we had everything we needed so we could stay by our mothers side. Our mom had friends, she went to exercise, she played bingo and she loved the Ice Cream socials while living at the cottage. We as a family have no regrets about our mom staying at Columbia Cottage. I would love to name everyone individually and thank them for the special care they gave mom and to all of us during a very difficult time.

We really like and appreciate the attentiveness that comes from the nursing staff and the aids. The staff members keep up constant communication with our family. The community is always very clean and very well managed. We would recommend Columbia Cottage to other families based on our experience.

Overall I think it was the perfect place for my sister. They have been able to handle her needs very well and I have nothing but good reports from her son on the facility. The set up at the facility gives her the privacy that she wants. She has done remarkably well at getting better. We know she is in a safe environment and is getting excellent care. I would recommend them to others who are looking, especially for individuals who want to be more privacy but still have people checking in on them.

We entrusted both our father and mother Columbia's care when it became necessary. They have been wonderful through a trying time for family who didn't make the choice lightly. Mom is still in their very capable care and we all sleep better knowing she is loved and cared for by staff who are dedicated and loving!

My husband and I want to thank the staff at Columbia Cottage in Collegeville for the continued wonderful care they have provided to our parents over the last 11 years. My husband’s parents came to Columbia Cottage in 2009. His father lived there 3 years and his mother 7 years. In 2016 my mother moved into Columbia Cottage as well. We can not tell you how much we appreciate all they have done and all they continue to do for our family. Columbia Cottage management should be very proud of their staff because they do such an excellent job of caring for the residents. We sleep better at night knowing my mom is still living at Columbia Cottage. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We are eternally grateful for the kind and professional care which my mother received for the past 3+ years while at Columbia Cottage Hershey. The care given here was of the highest quality and the programs and food were perfectly designed and delivered for the precise needs of the residents. The leadership is outstanding, including the main office personnel who visit frequently, and we believe the Managing Director sets the marvelous tone for the caring attitude that is displayed by every single one of the staff. We never saw even a single deviation from that caring attitude and professionalism. We will happily endorse Columbia Cottage Hershey to all our associates and friends as the best assisted living facility we have ever encountered. It is easy and a natural joy to speak so highly of such excellence.

There are some benefits to it being a smaller community - we like how all the staff members work as a team and despite having different responsibilities they help out wherever it is needed. The meals and dining service compared to other experiences we have had at other facilities is a little less flexible on their dining times. The meals are served every day at the same time so everyone eats at the same time.

The activities they lost their director and not certain if she will be replaced. I believe there could be more engagement in the activities. The care staff is beyond exceptional and go above and beyond to take great care of our loved one. The Columbia Cottage is a beautiful facility and very well ran.

My sister went to look at this place and they loved it. I can't remember exacty what they liked about it but it's a beautiful facility and we're considering moving our mother there. My issue is the last place that she was in seemed nice and turned out badly. How do we know this will be different?

My father was a resident at Columbia Cottage and overall his experience at this facility was okay. The cleanliness was great. However, I was not thrilled with the restrooms. They were not extremely ADA efficient for elderly care: no walk in shower and the toilet seats were low. I also wasn't thrilled with the placement of the emergency help pull string. Some of the staff were nicer than others. There was also a long response time, but they were short staffed. I thought that the physician care was lacking. It felt more like you people are old and going to die soon, so I'm just putting in my time. I would have rather stayed with my father's Primary Care Doctor had I known better. The food was okay, definitely not as advertised 'professional chef.'
